Our marriage is much like living within a Bubble
Our unique Bubble has boundaries to keep and agreements to honor.
We know that relationships are often imperfect and are liable to experience breakdowns.
Throughout our work together, we will distinguish the following.
- There are ways of being that DObelong inside our Bubble.
- There are ways of being that DO NOTbelong inside our Bubble.
- DObelong:
- Love, listening,
- Mutual honor and respect
- Sharing thoughts and feelings
- Effective communication
- Trust, safety, and faithfulness
- DObelong:
DO NOT belong
- Lying or withholding communication.
- Inappropriate behaviors that compromise the integrity of our Bubble.
- Sharing marriage and relationship information with anyone outside the Bubble without the prior agreement of all partners. For example, extended family, friends, and coworkers. Anyone.
- Irresponsible expression of strong emotions. (i.e., frustration and anger).
- Inappropriate relationships.
Knowing that other bubbles are within your family and marriage bubble is essential.
- All individuals have their own personal “Me-time bubble.
- Your children have their growing bubbles as well.
- Any other family member dwelling with you has their bubble.
Nothing is allowed entry into the family bubble without the prior agreement of all parties.
Families and marriages thrive when they maintain the integrity of all bubbles.
